Life as an EduPair

An EduPair is

A FAMILY MEMBER

A ROLE MODEL

A PRIVATE TUTOR

NOT  A NANNY

An EduPair is someone who lives with a family and helps out with childcare in an educational way. In exchange, EduPairs receive language and cultural developments as well as food and accommodation. Generally speaking, our host families expect EduPairs to take on a positive educational role for the host kid(s)' second language study. This usually means teaching English through play and exploring aspects of your culture together.

ONE TYPICAL DAY as an EduPair

As you can imagine, each host family's daily schedule could be different. An EduPair's daily schedule is often determined by the age of the children in the household and based on the individual needs of your host family. If the host family's children are enrolled in school, then your schedule will be based on providing support before and after the school day. If you're caring for infants or younger children, then your schedule will likely be more fixed during the middle of the day. The host family's schedule may change from time to time, so being flexible is important.

One daily schedule with a 8-year-old host kid may look like this :

  • EduPairs' duty hour will be no more than 7 hours per day.

  • Host families often set a curfew for EduPairs during the week.

  • A detailed weekly/daily task schedule will be agreed upon in the Host Family & EduPair Agreement when the match has been confirmed.
